Beach Volleyball Gets Hard-Fought Win Against Gaels

MORAGA, Calif.—Cheyenne Rice and Teila Allen needed three sets to clinch the non-conference dual for the San José State beach volleyball team as the Spartans won 3-2 at Saint Mary’s Wednesday afternoon. The Spartans improved to 10-10 on the season.

  • Rice and Allen fell in the first set, 25-23, before rebounding to win 21-19 and 15-13 for the clinching point.
  • Siena Brewster and Meredith Scott got the first Spartans’ point with a 21-12, 16-21, 15-11 win as SJSU took the 1-0 lead.
  • Jaida Ward and Jada Hall also needed three sets to record the second point for SJSU, winning 19-21, 21-13 and 15-11.
  • Shirley Morris and Anna Salmon took their match to three sets, falling 21-13 in the first set, winning 24-22 and going extra in the final set before falling 17-15.

UP NEXT – The Spartans play their final duals of the season on Saturday, April 13, when SJSU hosts Santa Clara at 11 a.m. and San Francisco at 3 p.m., at Spartan Beach. The Broncos and Dons will play each other at 1 p.m.

Spartan Beach – 10th Street just north of Alma and across the street from the South Parking Garage

Parking - Available in the South Campus Garage located on the corner of 10th and Alma Streets. Fans should pay the $5 permit fee before exiting for Spartan Beach.
