SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Robert Hamchuk and Nathan Cadena both hit home runs to lead San José State (11-19, 6-8 MW) as they clinched the series over San Diego State (9-20, 4-10 MW) with a second-straight 17-3 win on Saturday afternoon.
- Hamchuk had a near perfect day at the plate, going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and three runs scored.
- He was a triple away from hitting for the cycle with a double in the second inning, a home run in the fourth and a single in the fifth.
- Cadena hit a no-doubt home run, his fourth of the season, in the fourth inning.
- Cadena drove in three runs and scored a pair.
- Jackson Forbes hit his second triple of the series and season in the fifth inning and also had a double in the second inning.
- Forbes drove in three runs for the second-straight game.
- Dalton Bowling went 3-for-5 at the plate with a pair of doubles and two RBIs.
- Micky Thompson earned the win on the mound after tying his career high with eight strikeouts in six innings pitched.
- The Spartans went 9-for-17 at the plate with two outs, and 11 of their 17 runs came with two outs.
