Zermeno Leads as Spartans Drop Tight Finale to Nevada

RENO, Nev. –  Reina Zermeno had a multi-hit game including her fifth home run of the season to lead San José State softball (12-20, 3-7 MW) as they fell 3-2 in a tight series finale against Nevada (32-9, 10-3 Mountain West) from Christina M. Hixson Softball Park on Sunday.

  • Zermeno went 2-for-2 with a home run, single, one RBI and two runs scored.
  • Zermeno’s home run is her clubhouse leading fifth of the season.
  • Aneesa Almaguer went 2-for-3 with two singles. 
  • Almaguer is currently on a three game hit streak and her two hits today tied her single game season high. 
  • Ahmiya Noriega went 1-for-2 with a single and an RBI
  • Taylor Squires 1-for-4 with a double, her third of the season. 
  • Makenzie Hutchinson went 1-for-3 with a single. 
  • Mia Reynolds was solid in a relief appearance going 3 IP, with zero runs, three hits and four strikeouts.
