Darcy Spark Named MPSF Newcomer Of The Week

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State women's water polo player Darcy Spark has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Newcomer of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning. 

"This conference recognition is well-earned and highly celebrated," said head coach Beth Harberts. "Darcy's competitive spirit is difficult to play against due to her high level of athleticism and adaptability. She continues to make a strong impact on our team as we play the highest nationally ranked programs. She's a terrific teammate and we are all celebrating this honor."

  • In this week's match against No. 3 USC, Spark recorded four goals, two steals, and one drawn exclusion. 
  • With her performance, Spark now leads the team in goals scored with 39. 
  • This was Spark's 13th multi-goal game this season.
  • This is the first MPSF weekly award Spark has received. 
  • Stanford's Maggie Hawkins is this week's MPSF player of the week.
