Spartans Travel to Utah State for Final Series of Season

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball (15-27, 4-14 Mountain West) will head out on the road to end the season with their final Mountain West three-game series against Utah State (22-25, 5-14 MW) starting with game one on Thursday, May 2. First pitch is slated for 3:00 p.m. PDT from LaRee & LeGrand Johnson Field in Logan, Utah. All three games can be seen on the Mountain West Network

  • Thursday at 3:00 p.m. PDT vs. Utah State
  • Friday at 11:00 a.m. PDT vs. Utah State
  • Saturday at 11:00 a.m. PDT vs. Utah State 

NEWS AND NOTES

  • The Spartans celebrated their seniors for Senior Day this past Sunday.   
  • The Spartans are coming off of a 1-2 weekend against UNLV. 
  • The Spartans had a come from behind 7-2 win in game two against the Rebels.   
  • Ashley Rico went 1-for-3 with a home run, one RBI and one run scored in game three against UNLV.  
  • Rico’s home run was her second of the year and moves the senior in to second place on the team in HRs. 
  • Rico is currently on a three-game hit streak coming in to this series.
  • Shay McDowell had a perfect day at the plate in game two against the Rebels going 3-for-3 with three singles, one RBI and one run scored.
  • McDowell’s three hits tied her single-game season high. 
  • McDowell has knocked in four RBIs over her last three games.
  • Reina Zermeno hit .444 last weekend against UNLV going 4-for-9 with two RBIs. 
  • Zermeno currently leads the clubhouse in batting average, HRs, RBIs and slugging.
  • Aubrie Thomas went 3-for-7 last weekend against UNLV hitting .428 with three runs scored.
  • A. Thomas is currently second on the team in on-base percentage and runs scored.
  • Mia Reynolds made the start on Senior Day against UNLV last Sunday.
  • Reynolds currently leads the pitching staff in starts and innings pitched.
  • The Spartans are 53-36 all-time against Utah State, winning two out of their last three matchups with the Aggies.
