SAN DIEGO—Dalton Bowling, Hunter Dorraugh, Robert Hamchuk, Ethan Ross and Micky Thompson were named to the 2024 All-Mountain West baseball team, announced by the conference on Thursday. Bowling, Dorraugh and Hamchuk were named First Team All-Mountain West while Ross and Thompson were named Second Team All-Mountain West.
The Spartans open the Mountain West Championship at 1:30 p.m. Thursday against New Mexico on the Mountain West Network.
Dalton Bowling, INF, Sr-R., Fremont, Calif./John F. Kennedy HS
- First career All-Mountain West honors
- Has hit .278 this season with a career-high 13 home runs, 18 doubles and 46 RBIs
- Owns the SJSU career RBI record with 158 and is tied for the SJSU career doubles record with 55
- Is second on the SJSU career home run list with 35
- From 4/30/24 to 5/5/24, Bowling hit .588 with 10 hits, eight RBIs, six runs scored, two home runs, two doubles and a triple, plus a slugging pct. of 1.176
Hunter Dorraugh, 1B, Sr-R., Vacaville, Calif./Sacramento State/Vacaville HS
- First career First Team All-Mountain West honors
- Is the SJSU home run king with 39
- His 14 home runs this season are one shy of tying his own mark for most SJSU home runs in a season
- He leads the Spartans hitting .362 with a .650 slugging pct.
- From 4/30/24 to 5/5/24, Dorraugh hit .412 with seven hits, four RBIs, two home runs, one double, four runs scored and a slugging pct. of .824
Robert Hamchuk, OF, Sr-R., San Jose, Calif./Leigh HS
- Second career First Team All-Mountain West honors
- Second on the Spartans hitting .304 this season and leads the team and the MW with five triples
- Leads the Spartans with 69 hits
- Currently on a career-high 19-game hit streak (4/13/24-5/18/24)
- Has 36 RBIs with 14 doubles, seven home runs and 42 runs scored
Ethan Ross, LHP, Sr-R., El Centro, Calif./Washington State/Southwest EC HS
- First All-Mountain West honors
- Leads the Spartans with six wins, 77.0 IP and 67 strikeouts
- Had five strikeouts while allowing one run over 5.0 IP at Cal (5/12/24)
- Struck out eight at Air Force (5/5/24)
- Tied career-high with nine strikeouts across seven innings without allowing a run vs. Air Force (3/8/24)
Micky Thompson, LHP, Sr-R., Portland, Ore./Washington State/Century HS
- Second career Second Team All-Mountain West honors
- Second on the team with 52 strikeouts and innings pitched with 76.0
- Threw his first career complete game with a career-high 131 pitches and seven strikeouts, while letting in only one run on five hits and two walks against New Mexico (5/17/24)
- Struck out eight San Diego State players across six innings, only allowing three runs (4/6/24)
- Threw seven strikeouts against Air Force across six innings, only allowing two runs (3/9/24)
