Dorraugh Hits Four Home Runs as Spartans Fall in MW Championship Game

SAN DIEGO -  Hunter Dorraugh hit an SJSU record four home runs with seven RBIs including a grand slam to break the SJSU single-season home run record and lead [3] San José State baseball (24-33, 16-14 MW) in a 16-11 loss against [4] Fresno State (33-27, 16-14 MW) in the 2024 Mountain West Baseball Championship Game Sunday afternoon to conclude the season. 

  • The Spartans were down 16-3 in the sixth inning and scored eight unanswered runs to finish the game
  • The Spartans end their season heading to the Mountain West Championship game in three straight seasons for the first time ever
  • This was the first time the Spartans had ever won their first two games in the Mountain West Championship
  • The Spartans end the season with an SJSU single-season record of 73 home runs
  • This senior class won 20 or more games in three straight seasons for the first time since 2012 and won the 2023 Mountain West Championship
  • In the last three seasons, the Spartans won 85 games, which is the most for SJSU since winning 95 games from 2008-10
  • For Dorraugh, that's 18 home runs this season which broke his (2022) and Jeff Ball's (1990) SJSU single-season record of 15 home runs
  • Dorraugh also extended his SJSU career home run record to 43
  • Dorraugh ended his SJSU career tying his career-best with an 11 game hit streak
  • It was Dorraugh's second career grand slam, first at SJSU, and a career-high seven RBIs
  • Dorraugh is the first SJSU player ever with four home runs
