LOGAN, Utah – Reina Zermeno had a grand slam in the top of the second inning to lead San José State softball (18-27, 7-14 MW) in a 7-4 win in their season finale and third game of this final three-game series against Utah State (22-26, 5-15 MW) on Saturday from LaRee & LeGrand Johnson Field in Logan, Utah.
The Spartans fell behind early in this game going down 2-0 in the first inning but answered back quickly with a big five run top of the second inning to reclaim the lead which they would hold on to for the remainder of the game. The Spartans offense loaded the bases after an Ahmiya Noriega double, followed by a fielder’s choice and a couple hit by pitches. The inning was capped off by Zermeno’s grand slam bringing everyone home for her seventh home run of the year.
- Zermeno ended her season with a perfect day at the plate going 2-for-2 with a grand slam, a single, four RBIs and two runs scored.
