Dorraugh Leads as Spartans Drop Series Finale at San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Hunter Dorraugh hit his 14th home run of the year to lead San José State baseball (19-28, 14-13 MW) on Tuesday in a midweek 9-4 loss to San Francisco (20-28, 3-15 WCC) in the third and final game of this midweek season series with the Dons from Benedetti Diamond in San Francisco, Calif.

The Spartans came out of the gates hot in this game putting up two runs in the top of the first inning off of Dorraugh’s 14th home run of the season. The Dons then took control of the game for good after putting up three runs in both the bottom of the second and third innings. 

  • Dorraugh finished 2-for-5 on the day with a home run, a single, two RBIs and one run scored.
  • Dorraugh’s home run was his 14th of the season so far. 
  • Dorraugh now sits one HR shy of tying his own single-season SJSU record. 
  • Dorraugh, SJSU’s home run king continues to add on to his record and now sits at 39 career home runs in a Spartans uniform.
  • This game was Dorraugh’s 20th multi-hit game of the season.
  • Theo Hardy went 1-for-3 with a single, one run scored and two walks.
  • Hardy extended his on-base streak to a season-best 20 games.  
  • Jeriah Lewis went 1-for-4 with a double and one run scored. 
  • Third double of the season so far for Je. Lewis.
  • Je. Lewis had a web gem play in center field with a leaping grab at the wall to save an extra base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning. 
  • Nathan Cadena was 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored. 
  • Cadena flashed the arm strength with an outfield assist cutting down a base runner at the plate in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Robert Hamchuk finished the game 1-for-4 with a single and a walk. 
  • Hamchuk’s hit today set a new career-best 13 game hitting streak for the redshirt senior. 
  • This was the final midweek game of the season for the Spartans.
