Track and Field Heads to Mountain West Championships in Clovis

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San José State track & field team will head back to Clovis, Calif. to compete in the Mountain West Outdoor Championships Thursday through Saturday, May 9-11. The competition will kick off on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from Veterans Memorial Stadium. The events can be seen on the Mountain West Network. 

  • The Spartans closed their outdoor regular season at the Fresno State Invitational two weeks ago in preparation for the Mountain West Championships.  
  • Malachi Snow had a double of first place finishes in Clovis in both the Men's 100 Dash  and Men’s 200 Dash with a time of 10.32 seconds and 20.63 seconds respectively.
  • Snow is currently the NCAA number two ranked hurdler in the country in the Men’s 110m Hurdles.
  • Snow is the All-Time Mountain West Performance Leader in the Men’s 110mH.
  • Snow is the SJSU All-Time performance leader in Men’s 110-meter Hurdles
  • Emilia Sjostrand had her own double of first place finishes at the Fresno State Invite in the Women's Triple Jump and Women’s Long Jump Invite with distances of 13.43 meters and 6.32 meters respectively.
  • After her performance in Clovis, Sjostrand is now ranked fifth in the nation for Women’s Triple Jump with her jump of 13.43 meters.
  • In addition, Sjostrand is also ranked number two in the west region in Women’s Triple Jump. 
  • In the Mountain West, Sjostrand ranks first in Women’s triple jump and fifth in Women’s Long Jump.
  • Issac Davis in the Men's 100 Dash at the Fresno State Invite, had a career best time of 10.63 seconds.
  • In the Women’s 100 Hurdles, Sky Hagan took first place with a time of 13.83 seconds.
  • Hagan is currently ranked first in the Mountain West for the Women’s 100m Hurdles.
  • In Men’s 110 Hurdles in Clovis, Demaris Waters finished first with a time of 13.77 seconds
  • Waters is currently ranked ninth in the NCAA for this outdoor season in the Men’s 110m Hurdles. 
  • Waters is the number two SJSU all-time performance leader in the Men’s 110m Hurdles.
  • Waters is also number two on the Mountain West all-time performance list in Men’s 110m Hurdles.
  • The SJSU Women’s triple jump event squad is currently ranked fifth in the nation. 
  • The Men’s 110m Hurdles event squad is currently ranked 10th in the nation.
  • The Spartans have five of the top 10 ranked athletes in the Mountain West in the Men’s 200m.
  • The Spartans have three of the top 10 ranked athletes in the Mountain West in the Men’s 110m Hurdles. 
  • The Spartans won five gold medals and 10 medals overall at the Mountain West Indoor Championships earlier this year.
