San José State recorded its highest finish in the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings in the Mountain West with a program-best 256.00 points to finish 81st in the country, and second in the Mountain West.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Behind numerous strong performances during the spring season, San José State vaulted up the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings to record a program-best 256.00 points and finished second among Mountain West schools for the first time in school history. The Spartans finished 81st in the annual competition that awards points based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships and led all other CSU institutions.

"Congratulations to all of our student-athletes, coaches and staff for this historic finish for San José State," said Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "To be the highest ranked CSU school in all of NCAA Division I and earn our highest-ever finish in the Mountain West ahead of our rivals is a credit to our culture here at SJSU. This is a great way to end this tremendous year that culminated with our prestigious NACDA Community Service Award, presented by the Fiesta Bowl."

The Spartans' 256.00 points ranked only behind Air Force's 304.00 and more than 100 points better than San Diego State (154.50) and Fresno State (135.00). SJSU was the highest-rated CSU school ahead of No. 84 Long Beach State (222.00), No. 115 San Diego State (154.50), No. 125 Fresno State (135.00), No. 138 Sacramento State (117.30), No. 205 Cal State Northridge (57.00) and No. 210 Cal State Fullerton (50.00).

"This is a great accomplishment for our department and truly represents our competitive growth," said Senior Associate AD and Senior Woman Administrator Laura Alexander. "We couldn’t be more proud of our student-athletes and coaches for their hard work on and off the field that produced one of the most successful years in our history."

The spring witnessed postseason success from men's and women's golf, men's and women's track and field. SJSU also produced postseason appearances from football, which earned its second-straight bowl trip and third in the last four years, along with women's indoor track and field, women's gymnastics and men's water polo. The women's track and field team tallied a school record 26th-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships and men's water polo finished in a tie for fifth place at nationals.

"It's great to see all the hard work the organization and student-athletes are putting in paying off with these incredible results," said Senior Deputy AD for External Operations Scott MacDonald. "SJSU has climbed the Directors' Cup standings all three years our leadership team has been here and to score the most points in school history is a tribute to our vision of The Charge of the Spartans."

The women's golf team earned its third consecutive NCAA Championships appearance with a fifth-place finish in the NCAA Cle Elum Regional, while the men's golf team competed in the NCAA Austin Regional, making regionals for the first time since 2019.

At last week's NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Emilia Sjostrand placed third in the women’s triple jump final with a mark of 45 feet, 6.25 inches and garnered All-American honors for the seventh time in her SJSU career. Malachi Snow crossed the finish line in fourth place during the men’s 110m hurdles (13.33) to set a SJSU record and earn first-team All-American. The 110m hurdles also saw Demaris Waters turn in a Second Team All-America performance.

The men's 4x100 relay team of Snow, Cameron TarverJaden Smith, and Isaac Davis earned Second Team All-American in the 4x100 relay.
