SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State goalkeeper David Sweeney signed with The San Jose Earthquakes’ MLS NEXT Pro team, The Town FC, for the remainder of the 2024 season.
“David is a player that has been on our radar for a while now with him being at San Jose State,” said Earthquakes technical director John Wolyniec. “We are very happy to have his abilities in goal and his character in the locker room as he starts his professional career with us.”
Sweeney spent five seasons with the Spartans from 2019-24. At SJSU, he recorded 281 saves, 20 shutouts, and a .745 save percentage. Sweeney helped lead the Spartans to 32 wins.
