SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State Athletics, in partnership with Playfly Sports, announced a 10-year naming rights agreement with Habbas Law for the new state-of-the-art Spartan Athletics Center, which will now be the Habbas Law Athletics Center at San José State University. The naming rights partnership was recently voted on and unanimously approved by the CSU Board of Trustees and is one of the largest partnerships in SJSU Athletics history, reaching $4 million dollars.
"We are very thankful for this new partnership with Habbas Law and the ability to provide a cutting-edge experience for our 500 student-athletes through transformative partnerships like this one," said SJSU Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. "This speaks to our increasing brand on a national level and the ability to associate with a winner like Omar and Habbas Law is tremendous for the Spartans and our campus community. Not only is Habbas Law involved in naming our Spartan Athletics Center, but they are actively involved in supporting our student-athletes through our Giving Day, NIL and other special events. I want to thank John Castro and Playfly for all their hard work on making this partnership come to fruition."
The partnership between San José State Athletics and Habbas Law also includes multiple branding opportunities at athletic events, a presenting sponsorship of the football game against UNLV on Friday, Nov. 22, and several Spartan Athletics community initiatives.
“Throughout history, sports has been the unifying language of humanity," said owner Omar Habbas. "People the world over recognize the courage, discipline, and preparation it takes for any athlete to step into fierce competition. By supporting San José State Athletics, Habbas Law is investing in the strength, passion, and academic excellence of our community’s future leaders.”
The Spartans wrapped up their most impressive year in revenue generation, surpassing records in ticket revenue, sponsorship, and fundraising. SJSU was the top CSU school in the Directors' Cup standings, second in the Mountain West for the first time in program history, scoring a school record 256 points, 100 more than San Diego State and Fresno State. The Spartans were tabbed Best College Sports Program in the Bay Area by the readers of the Mercury News.
