El Camino Health Named Official Healthcare Partner of San José State Athletics

Award-winning Health System Serving the South Bay Expands Commitment to Community Health and Public Education

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. – Teaming up to foster a healthier community, El Camino Health is now the Official Healthcare Partner of San José State Athletics, creating a long-term partnership that supports Spartan student-athletes and a community health partnership for fans and their families.

“This partnership is a natural extension of our shared commitment to invest in healthier communities,” said Mark Klein, chief communications and marketing officer for El Camino Health. “El Camino Health is the premiere community health system in the South Bay. San José State is a center of academic excellence and a source of exceptional talent for organizations throughout Silicon Valley. We see this as an important alliance between two well-respected community institutions, both of which are dedicated to improving the lives of the people they serve.”

In addition to elevating health care for athletes and students, the El Camino Health and San
José State team will collaborate on community health and education events featuring health
system physicians, nurses and health educators. More than 11 percent of El Camino Health
employees have earned degrees at SJSU, including nurses who contribute to El Camino
Health's ANCC Magnet® designated hospitals in Los Gatos and Mountain View — the most prestigious designation a hospital can earn for excellence in nursing care.

“It’s fantastic to partner with a prestigious health system like El Camino Health that also invests in San José State University by hiring Spartans,” said SJSU Director of Athletics Jeff Konya. “This collaboration not only makes a difference for our student-athlete experience but also enhances our Beyond Sparta program, which connects businesses with our emerging leaders. Building on our relationship with such a strong regional brand as El Camino Health speaks volumes about the growth and ambition of our athletics enterprise and we’re excited about what this partnership holds for the future.”

Starting with the San José State Spartans home football game on Thursday, August 29, those
attending men’s and women’s SJSU athletic events will notice El Camino Health branding, as
well as features in the “Spartan Brew” newsletter and ads on the SJSU Spartans Sports Media
Network.

The partnership will also include special moments at athletic events, such as honoring healthcare heroes throughout the year and dedicating various home games to support awareness of important health issues that impact the community. The sponsorship will focus on SJSU’s football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball and soccer programs.

El Camino Health is nationally recognized and locally trusted, setting community standards for compassionate care and advanced treatments. The partnership with San José State Athletics furthers the health system’s commitment to helping Spartan student-athletes, supporters and all in the communities of Silicon Valley and the South Bay live their best and healthiest lives.
