SJSU's Angel Iniguez Named to United Soccer Coaches' Players to Watch List

SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State's Angel Iniguez was named to the United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division I Men’s Players to Watch list for the 2024 season.

The United Soccer Coaches list is compiled and released by the Division I All-America Committees to promote college soccer leading up to the official start date for the regular season later this month. The lists include United Soccer Coaches All-Americans and first or second-team All-Region players from 2023, who are scheduled to return for the 2024 season.

“Entering the 2024 season, these previous honorees represent some of the best at their positions,” said Ralph Polson, Senior College All-America Administrator. “As pre-season training opens, we are pleased to recognize these outstanding student-athletes from our member schools.

 

Angel Iniguez, Midfielder, Junior, Daly City, Calif./Sacred Heart College Prep

  • Started in all 17 appearances in 2023
  • Led the Spartans with 20 points, seven goals and six assists
  • Named to the All-WAC First Team
  • Tallied nine goals and 11 assists in his two years at SJSU
  • Averaged one goal every two matches in non-conference play last season (four goals in eight matches)
  • Produced a career-high four points with one goal and two assists in a 4-1 win over Sacramento State (9/22/23)
  • Registered at least one point in the first three games of the year with an assist against CSU Bakersfield (8/24/23), a goal and an assist against UC San Diego (8/26/23) and a goal against San Francisco (8/31/23)
  • Named the WAC Offensive Player of the Week (Week of 8/29/23)
