SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San José State women's basketball team is set to begin their 2024-25 campaign, the third season under the helm of head coach April Phillips, as they announce their non-conference and tentative conference schedules for this season.
- The Spartans return a number of senior players, including, Marisa Davis-Jones, Jasmine Singleton, Nailea Nicholas and Finau Tonga.
- Some newcomers expected to make an impact and contribute this season from a strong transfer class are Amiah Simmons, Hennie Van Schaik, Amira Brown, Rylei Waugh, and Djessira Diawara.
- Incoming freshmen Stella Sgro and Mecca Alexander are expected to make an immediate impact.
- The season will begin on the road for the Spartans as they will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio, to take on Xavier from the Big East on Nov. 5 before returning home to host back-to-back home games against California on Nov. 9 and San Francisco State on Nov. 12.
- The Spartans will return on the road for a quick trip south and visit UC Santa Barbara on Nov. 17 before returning home for another pair of home contests against Kennesaw State on Nov. 21 and Cal State Northridge on Nov. 24.
- Over Thanksgiving weekend, SJSU will travel to Puerto Rico to play neutral site games against North Carolina Wilmington and Umass Lowell on November 28 and 30.
- The Spartans will close out their non-conference slate with three straight home games against Saint Mary’s on Dec. 4, Loyola Marymount on Dec. 7, and Tulsa on Dec. 10 before making a quick trip north to play Sacramento State on Nov. 15 before returning home for their final non-conference game against Bethesda on Dec. 21.
- The Spartans open Mountain West play this year on the road against Nevada on Dec. 29 and then will start the new year at home against last year’s conference champion, UNLV, on Jan. 1.
- SJSU will play each Mountain West opponent twice this season with a home and away split of their two games, with the exception of Boise State, who they will visit for a road game on Jan. 15, and New Mexico at home on Feb. 19, both of which the Spartans will only play once.
- The Spartans will close out their regular season against Colorado State on March 4 with Senior Day honoring this year’s graduating class.
- The 2025 Mountain West Tournament will take place March 9-12 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
- The Mountain West portion of the schedule is currently tentative, and game times, as well as dates, are subject to change. The updated MW schedule will be released in the next couple of weeks, which could show any game day shifts, network outlets, and tip-off times.
