DAVIS, Calif. - Jamie Steingraf recorded four goals across two games to lead the No. 12 San José State men’s water polo team (1-1, 0-0 WCC) in a 16-6 victory over UC Merced (0-5, 0-0 WWPA) and in a narrow 10-8 loss to No. 5 Cal (5-1, 0-0 MPSF) on the first day of the Aggie Invite.
Vs. No. 5 Cal Berkeley
- Mateja Bosić and Jamie Steingraf led the team with two goals scored each in the match.
- Maro Tiozzo, Mael Suchet, Bence Szabo and Samu Biros all scored one goal.
- Tiozzo, Szabo, Biros and Connor MacMillan all earned an assist.
- For Biros, he scored his first goal and assist of his career in the match.
- Brendon Gyapjas recorded 20 saves in the game.
- Mitchell Keightley notched three steals in the match.
- The Spartans’ held Cal to 10 goals in the game, the Golden Bears’ lowest score total so far this season.

- Steingraf and Austin Hexter each scored two goals.
