Nash's Record-Setting Night in Spartans 31-10 Win over Kennesaw State Presented by Rubenstein Supply

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Nick Nash set the San José State record for receptions in a regular-season game to lead the Spartans (3-0, 1-0 MW) to a 31-10 victory against Kennesaw State (0-3, 0-0 CUSA) inside CEFCU Stadium Saturday, presented by Rubenstein Supply.

  • Nash had 17 receptions for 225 yards with three touchdown catches in this game, the second time in his career Nash has caught three touchdown passes.
  • Nash broke the regular-season reception record of 15 set by Tuati Wooden (vs. Tulsa, 2003); Steven Pulley (vs. Stanford, 1999), and Guy Liggins (vs. Fresno State, 1986)
  • Nash also set a new career high in yards gained.
  • His 17 receptions lead the country for receptions in one game by a player.
  • Nash’s three touchdown receptions add to his Mountain West-leading total of six by a receiver, and his three touchdown receptions tie his own SJSU record of three receiving touchdowns in a game.
  • Nash’s 149 receiving yards in the first half of this game are a career-high for the senior. It’s also the most first-half receiving yards by a single SJSU player since 2020.
  • Nash’s 225 receiving yards in this game is the second game this season the redshirt senior has eclipsed more than 100 yards receiving. Nash had zero 100-yard receiving games in his career before this season.
  • This was the first time a Spartan has had 200 yards receiving since Bailey Gather had 208 yards against New Mexico in 2020.
  • Spartan quarterback Emmett Brown went 26-of-38 with 355 yards passing and threw for four touchdowns in the game, adding to his total of nine passing touchdowns this season, which now ranks first in the Mountain West.
  • Brown’s 355 passing yards and four touchdown passes in this game are career highs for the redshirt sophomore. They are also the most yards for a Spartan since Chevan Cordeiro threw for 366 in the 2022 Potato Bowl, and the four touchdowns thrown are the most for a Spartan quarterback since Cordeiro against Utah State (11/19/22).
  • Brown’s nine touchdown passes through three games this season tops Cordeiro from last season, who had five through three games.
  • Justin Lockhart had four receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown.
  • Lockhart and Nash are the first pair of Spartan teammates to gain at least 100 yards receiving since Bailey Gather and Tre Walker did it against New Mexico on October 31, 2020.
  • Jordan Pollard led the Spartan defense with 10 total tackles in this game while also tallying two tackles for loss, one sack, and one interception. Pollard currently leads the Mountain West in tackles with 35.
  • Pollard’s sack was the first of his career. This was also his second consecutive game with double-digit tackles.
  • Quincy Likio had 6 total tackles and one sack in this game, the first sack of his career.
  • Jabari Bates 11 carries for 61 yards rushing set a new career high in yards.
  • Bates' 31-yard run late in the first quarter was the longest rush of his career and the longest of the season for the Spartans so far.

  • SJSU is one of two teams in the Mountain West that is still undefeated.
