USAFA, Colo. - Angel Iniguez scored three goals and Edgar Guerra earned his second clean sheet of the season to lead the San José State (2-4-4, 1-0-0 WAC) men's soccer team in a 3-0 victory on the road against Air Force (0-8-1, 0-1-0 WAC). The game marked the first conference game of the season for the Spartans.
- Iniguez is the first player to record a hat trick for the Spartans since Willy Miranda on March 26, 2021 against Cal Baptist.
- The Spartans’ first goal came in the 40th minute when tic-tac-toe passes from Anthony Guzman and Angel Fernandez set up Iniguez with the shot who buried it in the bottom right corner.
- The Spartans next goal came in the 71st minute when a rocket from Iniguez from just outside the box again found the bottom right corner of the net, set up by a perfect touchpass from a falling down Diogo Baptista.
- SJSU’s final goal came just minutes later in the 73rd minute when Iniguez buried a rebound into a wide open net off a saved shot from Gilberto Rivera.
- Iniguez now has four goals on the season and 13 for his career. In his last two games, he has recorded four goals and an assist.
- Iniguez was named WAC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday after he recorded a goal and an assist against UC Davis.
- Baptista, Fernandez and Guzman all earned their first assists of the season in the match. For Fernandez, it was the first assist of his career.
- Guerra tallied one save and earned his second clean sheet of the season. He now has 28 saves on the season.
- SJSU’s three goals were the most goals scored in a match for the Spartan’s so far this season.
