Four Spartans Finish In Top-20 at Nanea Invitational

KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii—Rebecca Gyllner shot a 2-under 71 Wednesday to be one of four Spartans to finish in the top-20, and help the San José State women’s golf team land in fourth place at the Nanea Invitational at the par-73 Nanea Golf Club.

  • Gyllner shot her only round under par at the tournament and moved up 10 spots on the individual leaderboard as she finished tied for 20th at 2-over 221.
  • She shot 2-under over her final 11 holes played (2 birdies, 9 pars).
  • Lucia Lopez Ortega was the only Spartan to finish under par as she tied for 12th at 3-under 216, after shooting a 77 in the final round.
  • Nicola Kaminski finished tied for 18th at 1-over 220, shooting a 4-over 77 on Wednesday
  • Moa Andersson tied for 22nd at 2-over 221, as she, too, shot a 77 in the final round.
  • Tessa Kremser moved up the leaderboard to tie for 46th at 13-over 232, shooting a 77 on Wednesday.
  • The Spartans finished fourth at the tournament at even-par 876, shooting a 302 in the final round.
  • The team made 49 birdies and 165 pars over the three rounds, good for fourth among the tournament field.

UP NEXT – The Spartans are finished with play for the Fall season. The team will be back in action in late January.
