LAS VEGAS – Cheuk Ying Shek split singles matches on Friday to clinch fifth place to lead San José State at the Mountain West Fall Qualifier.
- Ying Shek beat Cindy Hu from UNLV with a score of 7-6 (7-2), 6-4
- Later in the day, Ying Shek won in her second singles match against Indya Nespor from Utah State, 7-5, 7-5, putting her in fifth place for the tournament
- Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia faced Maya Dutta and Zdena Safarova from Boise State in the semifinals but fell short, 2-6, 5-7
