SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State football (6-3, 3-2 Mountain West) hosts No. 13 Boise State (8-1, 5-0 Mountain West), presented by Alaska Airlines on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. on CBS Sports Network and KTRB 860 AM.
- With a 24-13 win at Oregon State (11/9/24), the Spartans are bowl-eligible for the third season in a row for the first time since having four straight seasons with winning records from 1989-92.
- The Spartans are 12-4 in their last 16 games overall and are 9-2 in their last 11 conference games.
- At 6-3, the Spartans have the best record out of every California FBS school and are the first California school to clinch bowl eligibility.
- The Spartans have seven home games for the first time since 2006 and are 14-2 in their last 16 games at CEFCU Stadium and 20-5 at CEFCU Stadium since 2020.
- The Spartans end the regular season with three straight home games for the first time since 1979.
- SJSU has forced 22 turnovers this season, which is good for third in the nation. The Spartans' 16 interceptions are good for second in the nation and first in the Mountain West.
- According to Stats Perform, Nick Nash has a receiving touchdown in nine consecutive games, the longest active streak in FBS and an SJSU record. It’s the longest streak to start a season in MW history.
- Also, according to Stats Perform, Nash has eight games this season, recording at least 90 yards, the most by any FBS player. Nash has at least seven receptions in seven games this season, with 90 or more receiving yards. The last MW player to have more games with 90+ receiving yards and 7+ catches in a single season than Nash was Colorado State’s Rashard Higgins in 2014 (nine).
- This season, Nash leads all FBS players outright in receptions (86), receptions per game (9.6), receiving touchdowns (13), receiving yards (1,156), and receiving yards per game (128.4).
- Nash is second in SJSU history with 22 receiving touchdowns and has only been a true wide receiver for 23 games. He is seven away from the record by Chandler Jones from 2010-13, and his 13 touchdowns are two away from the SJSU single-season record of 15 by Jones in 2013.
- Pro Football Focus (PFF) has Nash ranked as the sixth-best wide receiver in the country with a grade of 87.6, and he's rated as the top slot receiver in the country.
- Nash's 86 catches this season are only three away from the SJSU single-season record of 89 in 2011 by Noel Grigsby. Zay Jones has the FBS single-season record of 158 in 2016 for ECU.
- The Spartans have the best passing offense in the Mountain West and are sixth in the country with 2,991 yards, which is 332.3 yards per game.
- Only two games this season the Spartans haven't hit 320 or more yards passing.
- The Spartans' most passing yards in a game last year was 325 and the most this season is 395 yards (Oregon St., 11/9/24).
- SJSU has the best receiving duo in the country with Nash and Justin Lockhart. The two have a combined 1,909 yards this season. Nash leads the country in five receiving categories, while Lockhart is 26th in receiving yards with 753.
- Walker Eget threw for 395 yards against the Beavers, which is a new career-high and it's the most passing yards for an SJSU quarterback since Nick Starkel threw for 453 yards against Boise State in the Mountain West Championship game on Dec. 19, 2020.
- DJ Harvey had his first career pick-six of 16 yards, plus a career-high 2.0 tackles for loss, a sack, a pass breakup and seven tackles against Oregon State (11/9/24) on the way to his first Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week honors (11/11/24).
- Harvey had an 85-yard fumble return for his first career touchdown, his first ever fumble recovery, his first career sack, plus his second career interception with seven tackles and 1.0 tackles for loss against Colorado St. (10/12/24).
- Harvey is the 25th-ranked cornerback in the country, according to PFF, with an 82.6 grade.
- Robert Rahimi picked off his fourth pass of the season at Fresno State (10/26/24) and is second in the Mountain West and fifth in the nation.
- According to Stats Perform, San Jose State’s defense has had at least one interception in each of its last nine games, the third-longest active streak in FBS (Iowa and BYU, 10 each). The last longer streak by a MW team was an 11-game stretch by Boise State spanning 2014 and 2015.
- The Spartans have scored a touchdown on their opening drive in six of their nine games this season.
- Floyd Chalk IV scored his ninth rushing touchdown of the season at Oregon St. (11/9/24), and he has had a rushing touchdown in six games this season.
- The Spartans' last win over a ranked team was last season against No. 25 Fresno State in a 42-18 home victory (11/11/23).
