SAN JOSE, Calif. — San José State Softball added six student-athletes on National Signing Day: Sophia Burdick, Leataataofiti Sherlin, Norah Coulsell, Delaney Faus, Gabriella Sotelo and Samantha Jo Kulak signed with the program, as announced by head coach Tammy Lohmann on Tuesday. The new additions will join the team in the fall of 2025.
"We're excited to announce the signing of Leata, Sophia, Gabby, Delaney, Norah, and Samantha and welcome them to the Spartan family," said Lohmann. "These six athletes bring experience of competing at a high level, know what it takes to win championships, and possess the tools to continue to elevate this program. Each of them offer a dynamic skillset of power, speed, athleticism, and passion which will translate well within the foundation that we’ve built. We cannot wait to have them on campus next fall and continue to see them grow as Spartans. "
Sophia Burdick, 5-8, Outfielder, Pleasanton, CA / Foothill HS
- Played all four years at Foothill HS, serving as a team captain for one year.
- Hit .425 her senior season
- 2024 EBAL All-League Second Team
- 2024 Alliance Fastpitch Open National Champions with Mojo Pikas club team
Leataataofiti Sherlin, 5-5, Utility, Corona, CA / Centennial HS
- 2024 All-League First Team
- 2024 Centennial HS Team MVP
- 2023 Centennial HS Clutch Player of the Year
- Hit two home runs in one game during her sophomore season.
Norah Coulsell, 5-6, Utility, Carlsbad, CA / La Costa Canyon HS
- 2024 San Diego North County Coastal League Champions
- 2024 San Diego All-CIF 2nd Team
- Nationally Ranked 79 for the class of 2025 by Line Drive Media
- Threw a complete game no-hitter striking out 12 and hit a home run in the same game last season.
Delaney Faus, 5-9, Utility, Buena Park, CA / Cypress HS
- 2024 Pitcher of the Year Cypress HS

Gabriella Sotelo, 5-3, Outfielder, Sacramento, CA / East Nicolaus HS

- PGF June Premier tournament hit .636 with 7 hits, 5 RBIs, 6 stolen bases, and a diving play in CF.
