SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State women’s basketball will head south to take on UC Santa Barbara at The Thunderdome in Santa Barbara, Calif. on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. PT. You can watch the game on ESPN+.

  • This will be the Spartans' first time playing the Gauchos since 2021
  • A win on Sunday would be the Spartans' first against UCSB since 2019. 
  • The Spartans are coming off of a midweek 92-65 win over San Francisco State at Provident Credit Union Event Center on Tuesday
  • The Spartans had four players put up double-digit performances, the most so far this season. Finau Tonga put up 22 points, Rylei Waugh scored 14, Amira Brown had 12, and Djessira Diawara finished with 10 
  • The frontcourt continues to lead the way for the Spartans, as the team would score 58 points in the paint in the game.
  • The bench continues to make an impact early in the season as well, with 26 points off the bench against SFSU. 
  • The Spartans were sharing the ball with 21 assists as a team in the game, which is the most by a Spartan squad since early March of last season when the team had 20 assists against Colorado State.
  • 92 is the most the Spartans have scored in a game since they scored 100 on their way to a win over Bethesda last season.
  • Tonga’s 22 points is the most scored by a Spartan since Sydni Summers scored 22 against San Diego State in the Mountain West tournament last season. 
  • Waugh’s 14 points set a new single-game season high for the sophomore transfer. 
  • Brown’s seven rebounds and six assists set new career highs for the redshirt junior transfer in both categories.
