HOUSTON, Texas—Vilma Lindberg and Ellie Shorten each moved up San José State all-time lists as the San José State women’s swimming and diving team competed on day two of the Phill Hansel Invitational in Houston.
- Lindberg finished third in the 100 breaststroke at 1:01.94, the fifth-fastest time in San José State history.
- Shorten moved up the San José State Top-10 all-time list in the 100 backstroke as she finished sixth in a time of 54.86. She moved from eighth to fourth on the Spartan list.
- Mya Azzopardi was the third Spartan swimmer with a top-10 finish as she was eighth in the 200 freestyle at 1:50.22.
- All four Spartan swimmers in the 200 free recorded season-best times.
- The 200 medley relay team of Shorten, Lindberg, Veronica Gourley and Quincy Key finished fifth at 1:41.34, the ninth-fastest time in school history.
- Jenna Jagielski advanced to the 3-meter diving finals, finishing eighth with 272.40 points.
UP NEXT – The Spartans finish competing at the Phill Hansen Invitational on Friday with preliminaries beginning at 8 a.m. PT, followed by finals at 2 p.m. PT. Fans can watch the meet on YouTube. Friday’s races are the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, 400 freestyle relay and platform diving.
