HOUSTON, Texas—For the third consecutive day, the San José State women’s swimming and diving team posted all-time bests, this time Ellie Shorten moved up the all-time list in the 200 backstroke, as the Spartans finished competing at the Phill Hansel Invitational hosted by the University of Houston.
- Shorten finished fourth in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.29, moving up the all-time list from eighth to fourth. She became just the sixth Spartan to swim a sub 2-minute race.
- The 400 freestyle relay of Lais Gasparini e Silva, Quincy Key, Dalton Sickon and Keira Vail finished sixth in a time of 3:23.63, tying for the ninth-best in school history.
- Vilma Lindberg finished fourth in the 200 breaststroke at 2:14.19, her best time of the season.
- Jenna Jagielski finished sixth in platform diving with 229 points.
UP NEXT – The Spartans finish the fall semester in the classroom and return to competition in the pool in January. The team hosts Cal State East Bay on Friday, January 10, at the SRAC beginning at 1 p.m.
