COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State's Hennie Van Schaik was named Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Van Schaik had two double-digit performances this past week, including a double-double, helping the Spartans to two wins against Kennesaw State last Thursday and CSUN this past Sunday. Van Schaik averaged 12.5 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. She is the first Spartan to win Mountain West Women’s Basketball Player of the Week since Tyra Whitehead won in January 2020.

- Van Schaik put up two double-digit scoring performances this week, scoring 10 against Kennesaw State on Thursday (11/21) and 15 points against CSUN on Sunday (11/24).
- Scored a total of 25 points across two games to go with 17 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks while shooting 4-for-13 from behind the arc as well as a .360 field goal percentage.
- Van Schaik finished with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists on 5-of-14 shooting from the field while going 2-for-5 from behind the arc against CSUN (11/24).
- She finished with 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and three blocks on 4-of-11 shooting from the field and 2-for-8 from three-point range against Kennesaw State (11/21).
- Set single-game career highs in rebounds with 15 and four assists against CSUN.
- Set single-game season highs in points, field goals made, rebounds, assists, and minutes against CSUN.
- Helped the Spartans to two wins this week over Kennesaw State (11/21) and CSUN (11/24).
- Contributor to SJSUs first 4-2 start since 2019
UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the Thanksgiving holiday to participate in the Puerto Rico Clásico tournament, playing two games against UNC Wilmington on Thursday, Nov. 28, at 1:00 p.m. (PT) and UMass-Lowell on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 1:00 p.m. (PT).
