SAN JOSE, Calif. - Ronin Axelson recorded five saves and his second shutout in a row to lead the San José State (4-7-7, 3-3-3 WAC) men's soccer team in a 0-0 draw against UTRGV (4-7-5, 2-3-4 WAC) at the Spartan Soccer Complex. With the draw, the Spartans have clinched a spot in the 2024 WAC Tournament.
- The Spartans are locked in the No. 4 seed in the WAC.
- For the Spartans, it will be their eighth straight appearance in the tournament.
- SJSU will play either Utah Tech, Utah Valley or UNLV in the first round of the tournament depending on tiebreakers. It will be determined after tonight’s Utah Valley vs. Cal Baptist game.
- Axelson earned a shutout in back-to-back games in just his third start of the season.
- The Spartans now have six shutouts on the season.
- Axelson’s five saves in the game was a career high.
- Cameron Cook recorded two shots on goal in the game.
- The Spartans celebrated seniors Kaylob Walker, Jarette Barajas and Christian Powell on Senior Day.
