RENO, Nev. – Nakai Johnson, Emilia Sjostrand, and Tyson Bonilla all set personal bests on the first day of competition as San José State Track & Field opened their 2025 at the Silver and Blue Invitational hosted by Nevada on Friday, Jan. 10, from Reno-Sparks Convention Center.
- Running in the Women’s 60m Dash Prelim, Johnson finished second in her heat with a personal best time of 7.67 seconds.
- Sjostrand, the All-American jumper, also competed in the Women’s 60m Dash Prelim, finishing in third in her heat with a personal best time of 7.70.
- Bonilla competing in the Men’s Long Jump finished in third place with a personal best mark of 7.18 (23’ 6¾”).
- Bonilla’s personal best mark beats his personal best that he set just a month ago in December at the Silver State Invitational in the same building.
- Freshman Myles McFarland running in the Men’s 60m Hurdles finished in second place with a time of 8.20 seconds.
- Fellow freshman, Zion Shelton also running in the Men’s 60m Hurdles finished third with a time of 8.37.
- Amanda Challburg competing in the Women’s 1 Mile finished in 4th place with a time of 5:19.61.
- Alexander Walker running in the Men’s 1 mile finished in second place with a time of 4:25.91.
- Katharina Graman finished in second in the Women’s Long Jump with a distance of 6.05m (19’ 10¼”).
- Simone Johnson also competing in Women’s Long Jump finished in third with a mark of 6.04m (19’ 9¾”).
