SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Madison Kirsch and Madison Gustitus won event titles on Sunday for the San José State women’s gymnastics team as the Spartans opened the 2025 season at Sacramento State.
- Kirsch started the winning, taking the vault title with a 9.800, and ended the meet tying for first on beam at 9.850.
- Gustitus, competing for the first time as a Spartan, won both events she competed in on Sunday with a 9.800 on floor and a 9.850 on beam.
- San José State finished the meet with a 193.825 team score.
- The Spartan beam team had the highest Spartan event score with a 48.975.
- Three other freshmen made their Spartan debut on Sunday. Ava East scored a 9.725 on floor in her debut. Kaviana Jurries made her debut on vault and bars, recording a 9.725 on vault. Samantha Macasu led off the beam team with a 9.675.
- Sophia Konieczny led the bar team with a 9.775.
UP NEXT – The Spartans continue on the road with a meet at Oregon State on Friday and then at the Wasatch Classic on Monday the 20th.
