COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.— Emilia Sjostrand has been named the Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week after a first-place finish and a personal best at the Silver and Blue Invitational this past weekend from Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, Nev.
- Competing in the Women’s Triple Jump, her indoor season opener for the event, Sjostrand took first place with an NCAA Championship standard mark of 13.37m (43’ 10½”).
- With that mark, Sjostrand currently ranks third in the nation on the NCAA Division I Indoor Qualifying list for Women’s Triple Jump.
- In addition, Sjostrand also competed in the Women’s 60m Dash Prelim at the Silver and Blue Invite and placed third in her heat while setting a personal best with a time of 7.70 seconds.
- Last month, in the same building, as part of the Silver State Invite and Multis, Sjostrand competed in the Women’s Long Jump and claimed first place while setting a new facility record with a mark of 6.47m (21’ 2¾”).
- This is the fourth time Sjostrand has won the weekly award in her career.
- Sjostrand holds the school records in both the Women's Long Jump (6.48m—21’3.25”) and the Women’s Triple Jump (13.98m—45’10.5”).
UP NEXT: Sjostrand and the Spartans will rest for a couple of weeks before heading out to Lubbock, Texas for the Stan Scott Invitational and Multis hosted by Texas Tech on Jan. 31 - Feb. 1.
