SAN JOSE, Calif. - Amiah Simmons scored 23 points, her third consecutive game scoring over 20 and Sydni Summers added 13 points of her own to lead San José State women’s basketball (9-12, 2-6 MW) in a 70-64 loss against Utah State (2-18, 1-7 MW) from Provident Credit Union Event Center on Saturday afternoon.
- Simmons finished with 23 points to go with two rebounds, two assists and three steals while going 9-for-21 from the field and 3-for-11 from behind the arc.
- Simmons has now scored over 20 points for the third consecutive game.
- This was Simmons’ fourth straight game leading the team in scoring and getting to double-digits.
- Simmons is currently averaging 21 PPG over her last four games.
- Summers contributed 13 points to go with three rebounds, and four assists while going 4-for-11 from the field and 3-for-10 from behind the arc.
- Summers hit a buzzer-beater three at the end of the first quarter.
- Summers leads the team with 45 three-pointers made this season
- Amira Brown added 10 points of her own with to go with seven rebounds one assist and one steal while going 4-for-8 from the field and 1-for-3 from the three point line.
- Djessira Diawara also finished with 10 points, as well as five rebounds, one block and one steal while going 4-for-8 from the field.
- Finau Tonga led the team with eight rebounds in this game.
- Rylei Waugh tied her career high with seven rebounds.
- Both teams equaled each other in rebounds, pulling down 44 boards a piece.
- Both teams also shot equally from the field shooting 36%
- The Spartans scored 32 points in the paint against the Aggies.
