SAN JOSE, Calif. - Amiah Simmons scored over 20 points for the third consecutive game, finishing with 26, while Finau Tonga added 16 points of her own to lead San José State women’s basketball (9-13, 2-7 MW) in a 77-64 loss against Wyoming (12-9, 6-3 MW) from Provident Credit Union Event Center on Wednesday night.
- Simmons finished with 26 points to go with four rebounds, two assists and one steal while going 10-for-21 from the field and 2-for-6 from behind the arc.
- Simmons has now scored over 20 points for the third consecutive game and four out of the last five games.
- This was Simmons’ fifth straight game leading the team in scoring and getting to double-digits.
- Simmons 26 points as well as her 10-for-21 night from the field, tied her season highs in both categories.
- Tonga finished with 16 points, led the team with five rebounds, and tallied one assist and one steal while going 7-for-13 from the field.
- Tonga’s 13 field goal attempts and one steal tonight tied her season-highs in both.
- Rylei Waugh contributed six points to go with two rebounds, and two assists while going 2-for-3 from the field and 2-for-3 from behind the arc.
- Waugh’s two three-point field goals tie her career-high.
- Stella Sgro added six points of her own with three rebounds and one steal while going 2-for-5 from the field and 2-for-3 from the three-point line.
- Sgro tied her career high with two three-pointers made tonight.
- The freshman Sgro also set a new career high in minutes played with 17.
- Sydni Summers tallied six points, one steal, and four assists while going 2-for-6 from the field and 1-for-2 from three.
- Summers currently leads the team with 56 assists this season.
- The Spartans shot 60% from three in the first half and 50% from the field.
- SJSU outrebounded Wyoming 31-27
- SJSU scored 30 points off of the bench tonight; this is the 11th game this season the team has scored more than 20 off the bench.
- The Spartans scored 32 points in the paint against the Cowgirls.
