PALM DESERT, Calif.—Moa Andersson shot her season low on Saturday and is in a four-way tie for first place after the first round of the Alice and John Wallace Women’s Golf Classic at the Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert. San José State is in third place among the 21 teams competing on the par-71 course.
- Andersson shot a 3-under 68 in the first round and is tied for first in birdies made with five.
- She played her first 11 holes (8-18) at 3-under par, with three birdies and eight pars.
- Andersson is tied for second in the field in par-5 scoring at 2-under 4.33.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega is tied for 20th at 1-over 72, with three birdies made on Saturday.
- Isabella Cioe and Rebecca Gyllner are tied for 30th at 2-over 73.
- Nicola Kaminski shot a 4-over 75 and is tied for 51st.
- The Spartans are in third place at 2-over 286, three shots behind second-place Southern California and 10 shots behind leader Oregon.
UP NEXT – The Spartans begin the second round on Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
