Albuquerque, N.M. – Christopher Malone set a new school record in the Men’s 800 while Simone Johnson finished first in the Women’s Triple Jump leading San José State Track & Field on the second and final day of competition at the Don Kirby Invitational hosted by New Mexico on Saturday, Feb. 15, from Albuquerque Convention Center.
- Malone running in the Men’s 800m Dash, finished in seventh place with a personal lifetime best and SJSU school record time of 1:52.85.
- Malone’s time breaks the SJSU indoor record previously held by Christian Rodriguez (1:53.01) in 2022.
- Johnson, competing in the Women’s Triple Jump won the event with a new personal lifetime best mark of 13.78m (45’ 2 ½”.)
- Johnson’s mark now puts her at number four in the nation on the NCAA qualifying list for Women’s Triple Jump.
- Katharina Graman, competing in the Women’s Triple Jump, finished in fifth place with a new personal best mark of 12.98m (42’ 7”).
- Graman also competing in the Women’s 60m Hurdle Prelim finished with a personal best time of 8.67 seconds.
- Jodeci Weems, also competing in the Women’s Triple Jump, set a personal best mark of 11.80m (38’ 8¾”).
- Weems set new personal bests in both the Triple and Long Jump at this weekend’s competition.
- Adrian Gomez running in the Men’s 800m Dash, set a new personal best with a time of 2:02.03.
- Alexander Walker running in the Men’s 1 Mile Run set a new personal best for the second consecutive race with a time of 4:22.72.
- Sky Hagan in the Women’s 60m Hurdles final finished in second place with a time of 8.13 seconds.
- Hagan also competing in the Women’s 60m Dash Invitational, finished with a new personal best time of 7.42 seconds.
- Ethan Fong competing in the Men’s Triple Jump finished 12th with a personal best mark of 14.66m (48’ 1¼”).
- Christopher Coats, running in the Men’s 400m Dash Invitational, finished in fifth place with a time of 46.77.
- Aiden Stalnecker running in the Men’s 60m Dash - Unseeded, put a personal best time of 7.05 seconds.
- In the Men’s 4x400 Relay, Cameron Tarver, Nathaniel Guillory, Cooper Decillo, and Christopher Coats set a season-best with a time of 3:21.32.
- In the Women’s 4x400 Relay, Savana Dutton, Katharina Graman, Nakai Johnson, and Alyssa Bean finished with a time of 3:54.68
UP NEXT: The Spartans will return home to rest and prepare for the Mountain West Indoor Championships hosted at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Feb. 27-March 1.
