Spartans Comeback Falls Short at Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Amiah Simmons and Sydni Summers both scored in double figures with Simmons scoring 20 points and Summers scoring 10 points to lead San José State women’s basketball (10-16, 3-10 MW) in a 59-54 loss against Wyoming (16-9, 10-3 MW) from Arena-Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.

  • Simmons finished with 20 points to go with four rebounds, and three steals while going 9-for-15 from the field and 1-for-2 from three.
  • Simmons now has six games this season, scoring 20 points or more, and eight games scoring in double figures. 
  • Summers finished with 10 points along with one rebound, while going 3-for-9 from the field and sinking two three-pointers. 
  • Summers currently leads the team with 60 threes made on the season and ranks second in the Mountain West in three-point field goals made at 2.24 per game.
  • Amira Brown contributed seven points to go with 11 rebounds, two assists, one block, and two steals while going 2-for-7 from the field.
  • Brown tied her career high with 11 rebounds. 
  • This is the second game this season, that Brown has grabbed double-digit rebounds.
  • Djessira Diawara scored seven points with seven rebounds, one assist, and two steals while going 3-for-10 from the field.
  • The Spartans had a 19-2 run in the last 3:30 minutes of this game to make a strong comeback effort. 
  • The Spartans outshot the Cowgirls from the free throw line 50-48.
  • SJSU scored 20 points off of turnovers.  
  • SJSU won the battle of the boards 42-40.
  • The Spartans scored 34 points in the paint for the third consecutive game.
