SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Rose Jensen scored three times to lead seven Spartan goal scorers as the No. 19 San José State women’s water polo team defeated No. 23 Marist, 11-8, Sunday morning in the team’s final match at the Bronco Invitational.
- Jensen scored twice in the first quarter and once on a power play in the fourth quarter. She also assisted on an Emma Ruzic goal in the second quarter.
- Ruzic and Nynke Willemsen each recorded two goals.
- Bridget Cranley scored match’s first goal for her only tally of the day.
- Darcy Spark, Sarah Woren and Renee Fleming all found the back of the net once.
- Jennine Osorio and Woren each dished out two assists.
- Willemsen and Genevieve Larkin each grabbed a steal.
- The Spartans end the weekend with a six-match winning streak dating back to the 25-7 win over UC Merced on February 8.
- SJSU jumped out to an early 4-1 lead after the first quarter and had a 7-3 lead at halftime.
UP NEXT – The Spartans travel to Cal State Monterey Bay next Sunday, February 23, for a 1 p.m. contest.
