LAFAYETTE, La. - Alex Fernandes went 3-4 and recorded four RBIs and two runs to lead the San José State baseball team (2-1, 0-0 MW) in a 12-4 victory over Louisiana (1-2, 0-0 SBC) in the final game of the series at Russo Park.
- With the win, the Spartans take the season opening series over the Ragin’ Cajuns.
- Fernandes also hit two doubles in the game and was walked once.
- Fernandes went 7-9 at bat with six runs and four RBIs in the Spartans’ opening series.
- Win Scott got his first start of the season, pitching 4.1 innings, allowing three runs.
- Nolan George earned the win. In his 4.2 innings pitched, he threw four strikeouts and allowed only two hits and one run.
- Raoul Fabian Jr. recorded two hits and three runs in the game.
- JC Osorio-Agard hit a two-run home run in the second inning. The home run was the first of his career.
- Rocco Caballero hit a solo home run in the ninth inning.
- Zach Chamizo tallied two runs in the game. He also hit a double and walked twice.
- Jake Maroney tallied a run, an RBI and a double.
- Drew Giannini notched a run and an RBI as well. Giannini walked twice in the game and was also hit by a pitch.
- Antonio Nanez also recorded an RBI and Jeriah Lewis earned a run.
