FRESNO, Calif. - Amiah Simmons led the scoring for the fourth consecutive game, finishing with a season-high 32 points, while Finau Tonga scored in double figures for the second straight game adding 20 points of her own to lead San José State women’s basketball (9-14, 2-8 MW) in a 99-85 loss against Fresno State (15-8, 6-4 MW) from the Save Mart Center on Saturday afternoon.

  • Simmons finished with a season-high 32 points to go with five rebounds, one assists, two blocks and two steals while going 10-for-19 from the field, 2-for-4 from behind the arc and 10-for-12 from the free throw line. 
  • Simmons' two blocks set a new career high for the senior transfer. 
  • Simmons also set new season-highs in points and free throws made while also tying her season-high in rebounds. 
  • Her 32 points in this game are tied for the ninth-highest single-game point total in program history.
  • Simmons has now scored over 20 points for the fourth consecutive game and five out of the last six games.
  • Tonga finished with 20 points, led the team for the second straight game with eight rebounds, and tallied one assist while going 8-for-11 from the field.
  • Tonga set a new career high sinking four of her free throws. 
  • Sydni Summers added 17 points with two assists while going 5-for-12 from the field and 5-for-10 from three.
  • Summers tied her season highs in points and three-point field goals. 
  • Rylei Waugh contributed six points, two rebounds, and two assists while going 3-for-7 from the field.
  • This is the 14th time this season the Spartans have had three players or more hit double figures in the same game. 
  • SJSU shot 49% from the field in this game, which is the highest team shooting percentage against a Division One opponent this season.  
  • SJSU scored 20 points off of the bench tonight; this is the 12th game this season the team has scored more than 20 off the bench.
  • The Spartans scored 34 points in the paint against the Bulldogs.
