SAN JOSE, Calif. - Finau Tonga scored 14 points while Sydni Summers and Amiah Simmons both scored 13 points to lead San José State women’s basketball (10-17, 3-11 MW) in a 72-65 loss against New Mexico (15-12, 8-6 MW) from Provident Credit Union Event Center on Wednesday evening.
- Tonga finished with 14 points to go with seven rebounds, two blocks, and one steal while going 6-for-8 from the field.
- Tonga’s two blocks set a new career high for the redshirt junior.
- Tonga has scored in double figures in 11 games so far this season.
- Summers finished with 13 points and five rebounds while going 5-for-6 from the free throw line and 2-for-11 from three.
- With two three-point field goals, Summers is now tied for #10 in program history for threes made in a single season with 60.
- Summers also moved into eighth in the record book for single-season three-point attempts with 180.
- Simmons would finish with 13 points to go with three rebounds while going 5-for-10 from the field and 2-for-2 from three.
- Simmons has scored in double figures in 10 out of her last 11 games.
- Rylei Waugh added 11 points of her own with four rebounds, three assists, and one steal.
- Djessira Diawara contributed nine points, led the team with 11 rebounds, and added one assist while going 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.
