SAN JOSE, Calif. - Jesse Gutierrez tossed seven innings, recording six strikeouts and earning his first win of the season to lead the San José State baseball team (4-1, 0-0 MW) in a 5-2 victory over Utah Valley (2-4, 0-0 WAC) at Excite Ballpark.
- Gutierrez only allowed five hits, two runs and a walk in his first appearance at home this season.
- Nolan George earned the save, his first of the year.
- George pitched two innings, allowing no runs and only one hit.
- JC Osorio-Agard hit his second home run of the season, hitting the solo shot over the left field wall in the second inning.
- Osorio-Agard finished the game with two hits, two runs and an RBI.
- Jake Maroney posted two hits, two RBIs and a run in the game.
- The reigning Mountain West Player of the Week, Alex Fernandes, went 2-for-3 in the game, also tallying two runs and a walk.
- Jeriah Lewis and Rocco Caballero each notched a run.
- The Spartans out hit the Wolverines 13-6.
