SANTA CLARA, Calif.– Cheuk Ying Shek and Soledad Fayos Capilla both won their singles and doubles matches to lead the San José State women’s tennis team (7-1, 0-0 MW) in a 4-3 win against Santa Clara University (6-5, 0-0 WCC) on Friday afternoon at the Degheri Tennis Center
- The Spartans are 7-1 on the season and have won three in a row
- Emma Fantousis and Fayos Capilla remain undefeated together in doubles matches as they won, 6-3
- Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia earned the Spartans the doubles point with a score of 6-2
- Ying Shek wrapped up her singles match on court one, 6-4, 6-2
- Fayos Capilla quickly defeated her opponent in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3
- Fayos Capilla maintains a perfect record this season going 6-0 in singles duals matches and 5-0 in doubles duals matches
- Duru Durgun clinched the final singles point for the Spartans securing the victory, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1
- Urchoeguia fell short in her singles match 6-1, 6-3
- Olaya Bances Iglesias was bested by her opponent 6-3, 6-2
- Fantousis came up short in her doubles match 6-4, 2-6, 4-6
