PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif.—Lucia Lopez Ortega finished the first round tied for 17th to lead the San José State women’s golf team at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.
- Lopez shot a 1-over 72 in the first round, making four birdies on the par-71 course.
- The Spartans finished the day in 14th place among the 16-team field.
- Rebecca Gyllner shot a 5-over 76 and is tied for 60th.
- Isabella Cioe and Moa Andersson are tied for 67th at 6-over 77.
- Nicola Kaminski is tied for 73rd at 7-over 78.
UP NEXT – The Spartans begin the second round of the tournament on Tuesday at 9 a.m., with Ohio State, Texas and Clemson
