COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San José State's Cheuk Ying Shek was named Mountain West Women's Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Wednesday.
The sophomore and No. 111 ITA ranked tennis player helped lead the Spartans to a 4-0 win over Boston College last week for their fifth straight win as they go to 9-1 on the season. This is the Spartans' second MW weekly award this season.

- This is her fourth career MW Player of the Week honors
- This is her first MW Player of the Week honor
- Ying Shek went 2-0 in helping the Spartans beat Boston College 4-0
- Ying Shek and doubles partner Carla Urchoeguia vigilantly battled their opponents on flight one and eventually won, 7-6 (7-1)
- Ying Shek won singles on flight one in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3
- The last time the Spartans beat a current member of the ACC was in 2016 against SMU
- This is the best start for the Spartans since the 2020-21 season when they started 14-0
