LOGAN, Utah – No. 111 Cheuk Ying Shek and Emma Fantousis lost no sets across singles and doubles play to lead the Spartans (10-1, 1-0 MW) in a 4-1 win at Utah State (5-6, 0-1 MW) on Friday afternoon.
- The Spartans will advance to 10-1, which remains to be the best start for the Spartans since the 2020-21 season when they started 14-0
- This marks the ninth win in a row for the Spartans against the Aggies
- Ying Shek and Carla Urchoeguia easily overcame their doubles opponents, 6-3
- Soledad Fayos Capilla and Fantousis won their first doubles match after coming off a loss from Boston College, 6-4
- Fayos Capilla and Fantousis are now 4-1 in doubles play
- Ying Shek quickly disarmed her opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4
- She is now on a four-match win streak, coming off winning Mountain West Player of the Week
- Ying Shek is now 9-1 in singles play this season
- Duru Durgun diligently defeated her opponent in singles, 6-3, 7-5
- Fantousis earned the Spartans the final point, clinching the match, 6-3, 6-3
- Olaya Bances Iglesias fell short in her singles match, 7-5, 3-6, 0-6
