SAN DIEGO – Neil Jansen tallied a run and an RBI across both games of the doubleheader to lead the San José State baseball team (10-8, 0-2 MW) against San Diego State (6-13, 2-0 MW) at Tony Gwynn Stadium on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The Spartans dropped the first game 16-1 and the second 6-4.
In game one, San Diego State took an early lead that the Spartans were unable to recover from despite a late RBI single from Raoul Fabian Jr. Starter Jesse Gutierrez (3-2) took the loss.
In game two, Drew Giannini’s triple in the third inning set up the Spartans’ first run, while Jeriah Lewis and Jansen contributed late RBIs. Pitcher David Thomas (0-1) had a solid outing, going 5.2 innings, but took the loss.
- Jansen earned his first RBI of the season.
- Jake Maroney notched two RBIs in the second game of the doubleheader.
- Alex Fernandes improved his on base streak to 18 games, every game so far this season.
- Fabian Jr. recorded his second RBI of the season.
- Giannini and Lewis each had two hits in the second game.
