SJSU’s Sjostrand to Represent Country at World Indoor Championships in China

NANJING, China— San Jose State Track and Field standout Emilia Sjostrand has secured her place and will compete at the prestigious 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in the Women’s Triple Jump this upcoming weekend, March 21-23, from China.  

  • Sjostrand, a triple jump and long jump specialist, has consistently delivered strong performances throughout the season. Her most recent achievement came at the 2025 Mountain West Indoor Championships, where she won gold in the triple jump and met the qualification standard with a jump of 14.01m, solidifying her position among the world’s best athletes.
  • Sjostrand, a senior, has been a driving force for the program over her four years as a Spartan earning six All-American distinctions, including second-team All-American status in the Triple Jump and Long Jump this past season at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships. 
  • Sjostrand is currently ranked 39th in the world with her season-best mark of 14.01m 
  • Sjostrand’s personal best in the triple jump is 14.09m (46' 2.75").
  • Sjostrand earned Mountain West Field Athlete of the Week earlier this season on the week of Jan. 14. 
  • Sjostrand holds the SJSU all-time indoor record in the triple jump with her mark of 14.09m (46' 2.75").  
  • The World Athletics Indoor Championships, set to take place in Nanjing, China from March 21-23, will bring together the world’s top athletes to compete on one of the biggest stages in track and field. Sjostrand will look to make history as she represents both San Jose State and her home country of Sweden.
