Spark Scores 100th Career Goal Saturday

SAN JOSE, Calif.Darcy Spark became the 21st Spartan in school history to score 100 career goals on Saturday as the No. 18 San José State women’s water polo team opened Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play with an 18-11 loss to No. 4 California at the SRAC.

  • Spark ends the day with 102 career goals, 10 behind head coach Beth Harberts on the San José State list.
  • Spark was one of two Spartans to score three goals for SJSU.
  • She scored her first two goals on penalty shots in the first and third quarters.
  • Renee Fleming also scored three times, twice in the fourth quarter.
  • Bridget Cranley and Rose Jensen each scored twice, and Jennine Osorio once.
  • Rose Jensen dished out three assists, while Nynke Willemsen contributed two assists, and Osorio and Fleming each had one assist.
  • Spartan goalie Grace Smith made eight saves in the match.

UP NEXT – The Spartans return to the SRAC for an MPSF match against No. 4 UCLA on March 15, beginning at 1 p.m.
