SAN JOSE, Calif. – Nolan George pitched all seven innings and striking out seven and Rocco Caballero tallied a career-high four RBIs to lead the San José State baseball team (13-8, 2-2 MW) in a commanding 14-1 victory over the Air Force Falcons (7-14, 2-2 MW) on Friday night at Excite Ballpark in the first game of a three game series.
The Spartans wasted no time getting on the board, exploding for four runs in the first inning and following it up with a seven-run second inning. The Spartans tallied 14 hits on the night, led by outfielder Jake McCoy, who went 3-for-3 with four runs and three RBIs, including a double. Jeriah Lewis also delivered a standout performance, driving in two runs.
On the mound, George was dominant in his first start of the season, tossing a complete-game seven-inning gem. He allowed just three hits and one run in the game.
- The Spartans’ fourteen runs is the most they have scored all season.
- Alex Fernandes continued his on base streak, reaching base safely in all 21 games this season.
