SAN JOSE, Calif. – Lacie Ham got the complete game win and Ahmiya Noriega hit two triples to lead San José State softball (14-15, 3-2 MW) in a 9-6 win over Colorado State (11-17, 2-3 MW) in game two of this three-game series from Spartan Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon.
After a quiet first inning, the Spartans erupted for eight runs in the second, stringing together hit after hit in a stunning offensive surge. Key contributions came from junior shortstop Ahmiya Noriega, who went 3-for-4 with two triples and an RBI, and senior first baseman Shay McDowell, who tallied two hits and drove in two runs.
Sophomore designated player Haley Reeve added an RBI single, while center fielder Aubrie Thomas crushed a triple that brought in three more runs. Later in the inning, Noriega’s second triple plated McDowell to cap off the eight-run rally.
San José State added one more run in the fifth inning with a pinch-hit RBI triple from Kaylani Lim, extending the lead to 9-2. Colorado State threatened with a four-run rally in the seventh, but the Spartans held firm.
Senior pitcher Lacie Ham went the distance in the circle, earning her fourth win of the season. Ham struck out eight and allowed only four earned runs across seven gritty innings of work.
